Green Homes Grant

What is the Green Homes Grant?

The Government announced a £2bn Green Homes Grant scheme on 8 July as part of their Plan for Jobs.

Homeowners and Landlords can apply for vouchers to cover two thirds of the value of works to homes, up to the £5,000, or the full value of works up to £10,000 for households receiving benefits.

What can I spend the grant on?

You can use the grant for internal/ external/ cavity wall, under-floor, loft and roof insulation; heat pumps and biomass boilers; and solar thermal ('primary measures'). If you are having one of these improvements you can also use your voucher towards installing double/triple or secondary glazing; insulated doors; draught-proofing; hot water tank thermostat and insulation; and some heating controls ('secondary measures').

The amount you can claim for secondary measures is capped at the value you have claimed for primary measures. Eg if you receive £2,500 for primary measures, you could receive up to £2,500 for a secondary measure.

If you live in London, we can help you understand which of these measures suits your home best. Each house or flat is different and many factors affect what can most improve comfort and energy efficiency. We base our advice specifically on your home.

How can I get a grant?

You can apply for a grant on the government website and find further information on the government Simple Energy Advice website.
